These coins are extremely rare and have an incredible history behind them. They were made in 1983 by Harold Whitely in Darby, Montana, USA. Ironically he trademarked the name "American Eagle" in 1981...5 years before the US Mint started producing theirs. It's unknown if he got royalties as the trademark status shows that the trademark was abandoned in 1983. This is what makes these coins super unique and rare. These are the original American Eagles.

Harold died in 2016 homeless and nothing to his name. His son is still alive and also homeless residing in Hawaii.
